Climate horizons and scenarios in ClimaFlora
Climate horizons follow the same plant through several future climatologies and help identify choices that remain robust when assumptions change.
The idea at a glance
Today
The reference profile represents the historical climatology used by the engine and provides the comparison baseline.
2035
The near-term horizon helps identify changes already relevant to perennial plants installed today.
Using horizons in a planting decision
2050 and 2070
Intermediate horizons are especially relevant to trees, large shrubs and long-lived landscapes. The engine displays the climatological period actually associated with each horizon.
2100
The long horizon is mainly a stress test for strategy and direction of change, with naturally greater uncertainty.
Scenarios
Low, medium and high are not competing forecasts. They frame possible trajectories and help distinguish robust choices from those dependent on one assumption.
